Piper
PERIDOT is an extremely unique gemstone and has been found in meteorites from outer space.  Here on Earth, it is formed in magma in the Earth’s mantle, whereas most other gemstones are formed in the Earth’s crust.  Peridot is brought to the surface by tectonic or volcanic activity where it is found in extrusive igneous rocks.  The green color will vary depending on the amount of iron in the gemstone.  Peridot is believed to ward off evil spirits and aid in the success of relationships.  It is August’s birthstone.
 
Green, like this peridot, represents a variety of causes, including childhood mental illness awareness, muscular dystrophy, lymphoma, and lyme disease awareness.
